Contact webmasters for more information on copyright issues. 1 Purify complains "No reloc section found" By default, compiler builds DLLs loadable to arbitrary base address, while everything else with fixed base address through load parameter. In other words, if you don't set -fixed:no, then your exe file can only be loaded to their preferred base addresses. By setting this option, compiler builds everything with arbitrary base address. This is required by Purify to instrument your EXE files. 2 Purify complains "Some dlls are incremental, purify doesn't work with applications with incremental option enabled" Add -incremental:no to your linker options. 3 My option changes doesn't see to work Run a make clean before make. Some times cc may think you binaries are already uptodate and refuse to recompile with your new options. 4 Why are pdb files important? Those files contains debug information required by purify 5 First time I run "coverage path/to/my/exec/file", purify instruments my app, but after that, purify doesn't re-instrument any more? Purify uses instrumented bits from cache, remove files from cache, you'll get what you want. This could happen because of many reasons, so check them following * Do you have the .pdb files available? To generate proper pdb files, you need to set "fixed:no" in your linker, and "incremental:no" in your compiler, and turn on debug * Are your pdb files in the same directory as their corresponding dll and exe files? * Do you have visual studio 2005 installed? Purify needs vs2005 to parse pdb files. If you don't, install it, cleanup %PROGRAM_FILES%/Rataional/Purify/cache, and reinstrument your application or restart your application with coverage.exe.
