Brandy, or brandywine, is a kind of spririt from distilling wine. Typical brandy has an alcohol volume of 36-60%.

Cognac (干邑) is a special type of brandy produced in cognac region of France. Remy Martin (人头马） and Martell are major producers of cognac.

Remy Martin is classified as follows:

7- years of barrle aging: VS
7-12 years: VSOP
12-15: Club
15-20: Napolean
20-30: XO
30-50: L'Aged'or
50+: Louis XIII, using crystal bottles made by Baccarat[PP]

Bran"dy (&?;), n.; pl. Brandies (&?;). [From older brandywine, brandwine, fr. D. brandewijn, fr. p. p. of branden to burn, distill + wijn wine, akin to G. branntwein. See Brand.] A strong alcoholic liquor distilled from wine. The name is also given to spirit distilled from other liquors, and in the United States to that distilled from cider and peaches. In northern Europe, it is also applied to a spirit obtained from grain.
